Reporting and law enforcement
Anyone can report something that breaks our policies, and every report is reviewed. Reports are confidential: the person you report is not told who reported them. This page also explains how rights owners report infringement and how government and law enforcement agencies can contact us.
On this page
Report a listing or brand page
- On the product page or brand page, open the menu and choose Report.
- Pick the reason, such as counterfeit, prohibited, misleading, unsafe or wrong price.
- Add details or photos if you have them.
Report a seller or an order
- From your order, choose Help with this order, then Report the seller.
- Use this for off-platform payment requests, fake items, harassment or data misuse.
Report a review, story, post or message
- Press and hold, or open the menu, on the review, story, post or chat message and choose Report.
- In chat, you can also Block the other person. Blocking and reporting are separate, and you can do both.
Report IP infringement
- Rights owners and their authorised agents can report trademark, copyright, design and GI infringement through the IP report form or by email to [email protected].
- Include your name and contact details, what you own and registration numbers, and links to every listing.
- Include a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
- We act on complete reports within 48 hours.
What happens after you report
- We use technology or our review team to check the report against our policies and the law.
- You can see the status of your report in Account, under Your reports.
- Urgent reports about child safety, threats or fraud are prioritised and reviewed around the clock.
- False or abusive reports break our Community Standards.
For government and law enforcement
- Requests for information or content removal from government agencies and law enforcement in any country we serve can be sent to [email protected] from an official email address.
- Requests must be on official letterhead, cite the legal provision relied on, and be signed by an authorised officer.
- We respond to valid legal orders within the time the local law sets, for example under the IT Act and IT Rules in India. Requests from outside the UK may need to go through the proper international legal process.
- In an emergency involving a risk of death or serious harm, write “Emergency” in the subject line. We review these at all hours.
- We keep records of every request and may publish aggregate numbers in a transparency report.
In an emergency
If someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number, such as 999 in the UK, 911 in the US, or 112 in the EU and India. For cyber fraud, contact your national fraud service, such as Action Fraud in the UK, ic3.gov in the US, or 1930 and cybercrime.gov.in in India. Then tell us.
Do not share or forward child sexual abuse material, even to report it. Report the account or listing on Yamunaa, and report it to the police or a hotline such as the Internet Watch Foundation in the UK, NCMEC in the US or cybercrime.gov.in in India.
