Reviews and ratings
Reviews are how shoppers decide who to trust. Only people who bought a product through Yamunaa can review it, and every review must be an honest account of their own experience. We follow the review rules of each country we serve, such as the UK ban on fake reviews, the EU rules on consumer reviews, the US FTC rule on fake reviews, and India’s IS 19000:2022 standard on online reviews. We do not hide negative reviews because a seller asks, and we do not allow anyone to buy, trade or fake them.

What a good review looks like
- Written by the person who bought and used the product, after delivery.
- About the product, the packing, the delivery or the seller’s service.
- Honest, whether it is one star or five.
- Free of personal details, links, phone numbers or promotions.
What's not allowed
- Reviews written by the seller, their staff, family, friends or agency.
- Paying, gifting, refunding or discounting in exchange for a review or a higher rating.
- Asking only happy customers to review, or asking unhappy ones not to.
- Review swaps between sellers, or review groups on WhatsApp and Telegram.
- Leaving negative reviews on a competitor’s products.
- Merging a new product into an old listing to borrow its reviews.
- Pressuring, threatening or offering money to shoppers to change or delete a review.
- Reviews about a seller’s personal life, religion or caste, or anything that breaks our harassment policy.
Examples

- A seller adding a note in the box: “If you enjoyed this, please leave an honest review on Yamunaa.”

- A shopper updating their review after the seller fixed the problem.

How we moderate reviews
We use technology and our review team to check every review before and after it is published. We look at purchase history, timing, device and network signals, and language patterns. We may remove a review that breaks this policy, but we never remove a review just because it is negative. Ratings shown on product and brand pages are calculated from verified purchases, and we tell you how many reviews a rating is based on.
For sellers: responding to reviews
- You can reply publicly once to each review. Keep it polite and factual.
- You can report a review that breaks this policy. A report does not hide the review while we check it.
- Incentivised product testing programmes run through Yamunaa are labelled “Received free product” on each review.
What happens if you break this policy
- Fake and incentivised reviews are removed and count as a strike on the seller who benefited.
- Sellers caught buying reviews may have all reviews on affected listings reset and may lose recommendation placement.
- Review manipulation at scale is treated as fraud and leads to immediate suspension.
- Shoppers who post fake or abusive reviews may lose the ability to review.
